“Known across the country as a place where people can get help as they address the needs of individuals with learning difference, the ARK is an unusual and most necessary resource.”

Center for Learning Disorders Director
“The ARK Institute has been a beacon in the dark for those of us involved in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with learning disabilities, particularly those who exhibit hard to understand visual/spatial difficulties. The ARK Institute promotes a clinical approach to diagnosis and remediation that is based on sound scientific thinking. The Institute has developed a number of highly effective interventions and has generously shared these interventions with other practitioners in the field. I am grateful to the ARK Institute for its continuing existence as an invaluable resource for all of us who are concerned with learning disabilities ... parents, teachers, diagnosticians, and of course, our clients.”

“My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Nursing, a Masters of Arts in Counseling and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. My professional experience has been related to each of these degrees. With more recent responsibilities in the area of services to students with disabilities, I have found my 2 years of course work leading to Certification as an Educational Consultant and Instructional Specialist from the ARK in Tacoma, WA to be relevant and helpful in my work with students, faculty and administrators.”

“Dianne Matthaei has been our daughter's savior. For the past four years Dianne has worked to find out what makes Amy different in her learning processes and find methods to help her learn how to effectively work with written language. This has not been a simple task, but it is one that Dianne has done with patience and creativity. She has helped our family through the Tacoma School District testing process and worked with Amy's teachers to insure that they understood that Amy's reading and writing problems were not due to being “too young”. When we hit roadblocks, Dianne has helped us find a new direction. Amy has grown from a withdrawn student to a fully engaged student and a reader willing to keep trying. She is looking forward to entering middle school this fall.”
